From Encounter to Book: Why I Agreed to Write From Salt to Soil and How This Partnership Changed Everything

A story that began in the countryside, long before it became a book.

Talking about this book always moves me. Because it all started in a simple, practical way, looking at the cattle, the intense heat of the Amazonian savanna, and thinking: There needs to be a better way to feed these animals and care for this soil..

I came from an experience with bovine genetics in Rio Grande do Sul, but it was in Roraima that I felt the need to do something different. It was there that I started researching and found Himalayan Pink Salt.

I negotiated for almost two years with a supplier from Pakistan, faced payment difficulties, complicated logistics, a container stuck because of the Amazon River's water level… but I believed. And when the salt finally arrived, I did the tests.

The results were surprising. In just a few weeks, weakened cattle regained vitality, weight, and energy. That salt with 84 minerals really made a difference.

But up until then, it was just my journey. None of it was written down. None of it had become history for the world.

The day everything changed: the invitation to write a book.

The turning point came when I was invited to give a lecture at UNIP, in São Paulo.
I spoke about COP30, about regenerative livestock farming, about pink salt. My son was there; it was a very special moment.

After the lecture, I met Clesio through our mutual friend, Professor Cláudio Scheidt Guimarães. The conversation was brief, but I felt he perceived something I hadn't even noticed. The next day, I received a question I'll never forget:

“"Vilton, why don't we turn this into a book?"”

I answered "yes" right away.
Without thinking too much.
It was intuitive, it was powerful, it was emotional.

And today I say: it was one of the best decisions of my life.

I had the experience. Clesio brought the method.

I have always worked a lot with practice, with experimentation, with field observation.
But turning all of that into a book... that requires organization, method, clarity, and rhythm.

And that's where the partnership with Clesio made all the difference.

He structured the project in a calm, straightforward, and very efficient way.
He created a methodology to transform my experiences into chapters.
He asked the right questions, pulled threads I didn't even remember, and organized everything with skill and care.

We publish in record time — and with international quality.

I was impressed by how quickly the book took shape.
We spent days and nights talking, organizing, revising…

And before we knew it, the book was finished.
And it wasn't just any book.

It was a consistent, profound, beautiful book, with both technique and soul.

After that, he took over the world:

• Belgium — where I received an international innovation award.
• Qatar — where we were warmly welcomed.
• Dubai — where I presented gifts to businesspeople who were thrilled.
• Pakistan — where the English-language book gained prominence at Agro Food Asia 2025
• United States, Russia, China, Spain, Venezuela…

Today, the book is already circulating in several languages.
And that makes me emotional every time I think about it.
